Welcome To Department of Computer Science And Engineering

About CSE Dept.

After established in 1986, the department has groomed many professionals, who have today, carved a niche for themselves in this field in India and abroad. Internet and laboratory facilities are provided to the students round-the-clock. Our departmental magazine helps in bringing the latent potential of our students to the forth and highlights research activities.
The department introduces students to the latest trends in technology, like mobile computing, multimedia systems, distributed computing, artificial intelligence, parallel architecture and computing, neural networks, etc. The curriculum includes basic subjects such as operating systems, database management, microprocessors, data structures and computer algorithms as well.
Our students’ present research papers in the seminars and conferences at National and International level. They are actively involved in developing software and participate in various sports at university/state level with equal enthusiasm.

Vision

To be a competitive teaching entity in computer engineering in the country and the region and to produce graduates with international recognition for their knowledge and skills, who are capable of taking a leadership position in the board aspect of computer engineering.

Mission

To keep the academic program at par with internationally recognized programs incorporating the rapid changes that are taking place in the industry, teaching/coaching students to acquire the knowledge and to develop their soft skills, and to enhance their career mobility internationally, making sure that our graduates are:

  1. Able to understand the basic principles that trigger present electronic and computational technology.
  2. Capable of creatively applying their understanding of science and engineering principles to solve problems arising in the career path they choose.
  3. Competent in communicating their ideas clearly applying their understanding of science and engineering principles to solve problems arising in the career path they choose.

CSE has modern laboratories to serve the teaching and research needs of the students and faculty. All systems are connected to the Gigabits LAN which is a part of the Institute-wide area network.
The Central Computing Facility (CCF) of the institute is also supervised by CSE faculty. Including facility in CCF, CSE has around 350 Desktops that cater the need of UG/PG/PhD students.
Internet connectivity available in the institute is of 64 Mbps leased line from Reliance. CSE owns 5 Xeon Servers (3 GHz), and around 350 Desktop PCs as stated above. It is having PG laboratory equipped with recent i7 Processor PCs to support their need of heavy computing.
Recently, CSE has signed MoU with DLINK. DLINK has supplied networking equipment to setup the laboratory and to run certification courses. The following table briefly describes the laboratories available along with facilities in it.

1)Implementation Of Convolutional Neural Network using MATLAB      View
PG program of CSE at SGGSIE&T has become very popular and well known due to regularity in instruction, devotion of qualified faculty of PG, and due to organization of various expert sessions for PG students.
In this academic year during admissions the CSE received approximately 350 record number of application. Out of which around 200 applications were from GATE qualified candidates.
Laboratory facility round the clock is made available to the PG students. The PG students themselves maintain and supervise their laboratory.
The dissertation topics are carefully chosen by the students seeking guidance from assigned supervisors. We feel dissertation need not be an earth-shattering contribution, but, however modest, it must be original as far as possible and demonstrate your skill in research and argument.
It is mandatory for all the students to publish two research contributions on the dissertation work. The work and contribution of the student is continuously monitored by the supervisors in the department. The team of experts takes decision on final submission and publication also.
The list of dissertation topics selected by students in this academic year is given in following table.
