Welcome to Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 1984 with an intake of 30. Subsequently, the intake was increased to 40 in 2002 and Then again increased to 60 in 2009. the Department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for Five years from 19th July 2008 for second time. The Department has a good academic culture and conducive working environment in the areas.  The equipment in the laboratories from these areas have been procured from the funding of state government and the AICTE funded projects under the category of TAPTEC, MODROB and R&D. The infrastructure is sufficient to achieve the academic excellence.. In addition to the strong placement, students are getting good ranks in GATE examination.

The Department runs Two PG courses in Civil Engineering since 1991 with an intake of 18 and Structural Engineering since 2015 With intake of 18. The Department is a Research Centre of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University. The AICTE under QIP has sanctioned two scholarships for full-time research work leading to Ph. D. degree. The M. Tech. and Ph. D. students publish high quality research papers in National and International journals.

The department is having close association with the academic institutes like (IIT Mumbai, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi, VNIT Nagpur and NIT Jalandhar etc.

The Program Outcomes of our program consists of following attributes -

  • Core Competence:To provide the graduates with a solid foundation in basic sciences, mathematics and humanities as well as fundamental knowledge of civil and water management engineering principles and respect for educational process which is manifested through lifelong learning purs units.
  • Engineering Skill Development: To empower the graduates with the capacity of critical thinking, logical reasoning, problem solving, experimentation and team work for solving real life problems in civil and water management engineering.
  • Professionalism: To produce the graduates with professional attitude and ethical values associated with engineering sector, who are capable of applying the acquired knowledge and skills for the betterment of society.
  • Engineering Knowledge: The graduate is capable of applying the core and multidisciplinary knowledge for understanding the problems in structural engineering and applied fields.
  • Problem Analysis: The graduates will possess critical thinking skills, problem solving abilities, and familiarity with the computational procedures essential to the field.
  • Design & Development of Solutions: The graduate is able to formulate, analyse, design and execute the construction of various types of engineering structures with appropriate consideration for public health and safety and cultural, societal and environmental conditions. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research based knowledge and research methods to conduct experiments and to analyze and interpret experimental data.
  • Modern Tool Usage: The student gets hands on training on various structural analysis and project management software’s.
  • The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the appropriate knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to structural engineering practice.
  • Environment and Sustainability: As the students possess substantial knowledge in multidisciplinary areas, one is able to plan the various projects well, keeping in view its environmental effects on other related fields.
  • Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commitment to professional responsibilities.
