SGGSIET Nanded selected to establish AICTE-IDEA Lab
We are very happy to announce that SGGSIET Nanded has been selected to establish prestigious AICTE-IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation & Application) Laboratory. This innovative lab will be established for encouraging students for application of science, technologies, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fundamentals towards enhanced hands-on experience, learning by doing and product visualisation. Out of about 250 applications from various institutes from all across India, 49 institutes have been selected. SGGSIET Nanded is one among only 5 institutes from Maharashtra selected for the scheme. It is also the only institute from Marathwada and Vidarbha regions.
The lab once established will remain open 24x7 for the students with innovative mindset. It will host new-age equipment including 3D printers, CNC machine, 3D scanners, and many other for converting ideas to the product prototypes. It aims to create innovative mindset capable to not only find the solutions, but to implement the same leading towards product development. The larger objective of the project is to promote self-employment and employment potential of graduates from SGGSIET, Nanded by enhancing innovativeness among them. During this process, we shall foster students’ creative, design thinking and entrepreneurship skills so that there will be open innovation approach resulting in creation of business start-ups. This will be will be achieved by developing a co-creative and supportive environment, including mentorship through Industry and alumni, which will encourage and foster students’ entrepreneurial intent and at the same time support open innovation approach.
Dr. Suhas S. Gajre, Dean (Incubation) will act as coordinator and Dr. Ramchandra R. Manthalkar will act as coordinator for the AICTE-IDEA Lab. Hon. Director Prof. Yashwant Joshi mentored the application for the scheme. The coordinators and Hon. Director has thanked all students, faculty and alumni who have worked for the development of the institute.
Under this scheme, the institute has to raise Rs. 55 lakh from Industry and institute funds, and AICTE will support Rs. 55 lakh. So far alumni industrialists have promised to contribute up to Rs. 5 lakh, but many are willing to contribute as well.
