Message from the Head of the Department
The Board of Management of SGGS IE&T, Nanded took the initiative to offer core engineering programs
alongside the non-traditional ones already available at the institute. As a result, the Electrical
Engineering program was introduced in the academic year 2011-12 with an intake of 30 students.
Initially, the Instrumentation Engineering Department supported the department’s activities for the first
two years. However, since 2013-14, the Electrical Engineering Department has been functioning
independently with well-equipped laboratories, dedicated faculty, infrastructure, and library facilities.
The department attracts high-quality students through the centralized admission process, enabling
strong interactions with industries and reputed academic institutes. This has helped our students gain
exposure to premier institutions such as IITs, NITs, VJTI, COEP, and other leading engineering colleges.
With a focused approach on Power Systems, Power Quality, Power Electronics & Drives, and Electrical
Machines, the department ensures that the curriculum aligns with these key domains. Our syllabus is
designed in line with NEP 2020 and GATE syllabus, preparing students for higher education, research,
and competitive exams like GATE and PSU recruitment. In line with the institute’s vision of teaching,
research, and technology transfer, the department actively engages in academic and industry-driven
projects.
The department also plays a crucial role in handling the electrical maintenance of the entire institute
under EMC section, ensuring a reliable and efficient power infrastructure across the campus.
To enhance student engagement, the department runs the Electrical Engineering Students Association
(EESA), which organizes technical events, guest lectures, industrial visits, and hands-on workshops. EESA
provides a platform for students to develop technical skills, leadership qualities, and industry exposure
beyond the regular curriculum.
The department is well-equipped with advanced research facilities to support Electric Vehicle (EV)
research, power electronics, and control systems. It houses DSP kits for EV research, IGBT inverter
stacks, control circuits, and power circuits. In addition, we use industry-standard software tools such as
MATLAB, LTspice, and ETAP for analysis, design, and simulation. This provides a high-quality research
environment for students and faculty to explore innovative solutions in electrical engineering.
We are committed to providing a strong academic foundation, industry-relevant training, and research
opportunities to help our students excel in their careers and contribute to the field of electrical
engineering.
